Lets Teach Our Young to Hunt Not Poach

A father and son team are facing charges in Vermont after being involved in deer hunting poaching in the state of New York, according to he Vermont Fish & Game Wildlife Department.
Nicholas Baker, Sr, and his son Nicholas Baker Jr., were arrested by officials in December of 2009 after they illegally killed two deer in New York and brought them back into Vermont.

Game wardens on an anonymous tip heard of the activities, they went to the Baker residence where they discovered blood on the vehicle parked outside the residence. During the investigation the wardens discovered two partially butchered deer in the basement. Both father and son were arrested for illegal possession of big game in Vermont, and they will also face additional charges for illegal importation of wildlife in the state of Vermont.

Poaching is illegal and unethical. Some think it is their god giving right to harvest game whenever they feel. Hundreds of years ago when people where few, game plentiful, and hunting to survive was the only option then it was ok to do what you had to do to feed your family. That was then, not today. Poaching does deplete our wildlife and with our huge populations much of our wildlife would face extinction. It has been proven over and over, just look at the wildife that has become extinct or on the verge of it because of human beings. This is why there is seasonal hunting with limits.

Still there are those who feel they can hunt and kill game anytime they feel. Heartless fools who care nothing about the laws and the future of our people as well as wildlife. The punishment in my opinion and many others as well is not severe enough to stop these few. Good law abiding outdoorsman and woman are becoming very frustrated that these careless few get only what usually only amounts to is a slap on the wrist. Probation, fines, or a few months in jail is just not enough punishment for what as far as I am concerned is just murder.
